Remember Perennial in your Will
A huge amount of our work to help horticulturists and their families in times of need is funded by the generosity of those who remember Perennial in their Will. A gift in your Will is a powerful way to show your appreciation for those who nurture and care for our country’s beautiful gardens and green spaces.
How your legacy could change lives
The challenges that face those who work to maintain our green spaces, beautiful gardens and sports facilities can be unexpected, heartbreaking and gruelling. Find out more about how your legacy could change the life of someone struggling to make ends meet or who is recovering from injury, illness or bereavement.
How to leave a gift to Perennial in your Will
We do not recommend that you try to write your own will. Always use a solicitor or will maker. He or she will know the correct form of words and can avoid ambiguities and misunderstandings. If you don’t have one already, just contact the Law Society on 020 7242 1222 or www.lawsociety.org.uk to find a local solicitor or the Institute of Professional Will Writer on 0345 257 2570 or www.ipw.org.uk.
You can download our Wills & Legacies leaflet for further information about making a Will and leaving a gift to Perennial: Wills and Legacies Leaflet (.pdf)
Writing a Will or changing your Will is a very personal thing. It is your way of letting others know your wishes regarding the way your Estate should be handled and shared, after you have died. It is important, therefore, to make sure that it is done correctly, to avoid any dispute or uncertainty and to ensure your wishes are fulfilled.
We would strongly recommend that you only use the services of a solicitor specialising in probate law. This is not usually expensive and you will usually be offered a set-fee for will writing (unless you have a particularly complicated Estate to arrange).
You do not normally have to pay by the hour, although it is worth checking this with your legal representative.
It may also be useful for you to find out about Inheritance Tax and how it might affect those with whom you plan to share your Estate after your death.
